This might have something to do with Godzilla vs. Kong's release date being pushed back recently. The MonsterVerse crossover was slated to come out on March 26, but now it debuts on March 31. That gives it some extra breathing room from the Snyder Cut, meaning HBO Max won't have two highly-anticipated projects premiering in consecutive weeks. Justice League can have its well-deserved moment in the spotlight for a little while longer before the focus shifts to Godzilla vs. Kong. The additional week also ensures HBO Max subscribers have more time to watch Justice League ahead of Godzilla vs. Kong. Snyder's version of the film runs very long, clocking in at four hours. The release strategy has seemingly changed from the initial 4-episode miniseries to a single feature film, but there are still people who may want to break it up over a period of time. Anyone interested in that now has two weeks prior to Godzilla vs. Kong, so there isn't much rush.
With a release date set, Justice League is poised to receive a considerable marketing push over the next month and a half. Even as Warner Bros.' entire 2021 film slate releases on HBO Max this year, the Snyder Cut is still arguably the highest-profile project coming to the streamer in 2021 and is expected to be a huge draw. A new Snyder Cut trailer is currently being worked on, so it'll be interesting to see what that entails. It'll probably shed more light on the myriad of differences between Snyder's version and the theatrical cut, highlighting cut storylines and character arcs for audiences.
